Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

Hyela was established as a subgenus of Glaucopis Fabricius, 1807, in the `Zygaenides', now Zygaenidae; it was placed in the Syntomidae, now Ctenuchidae, by Hampson, 1898, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus. 1: 196.

A junior homonym of Hyela Stephens, 1850, List Specimens Br. Anim. Colln Br. Mus. 5: 149, - Lepid., Noctuidae. There is no objective replacement name but the type-species of Hyela Walker, 1854, is currently considered to be congeneric with the type-species of Phoenicoprocta Druce, 1898. The latter is therefore available for use as a subjective replacement name.
