Notes:
Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-

Established unnecessarily as an objective replacement name for Cnemidophorus Zeller, 1867, an unjustified emendation of Cnaemidophorus Wallengren, 1862. Wallengren evidently believed that Cnaemidophorus, the correct original spelling, as well as Cnemidophorus, its emendation, were both junior homonyms of Cnemidophorus Wagler, 1830, Nat. Syst. Amphib.: 154 - Reptilia and for that reason established the replacement name.
