Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

E. flavipunctata is a junior subjective synonym of Thyretes monteiroi Butler, 1876, J. Linn. Soc. (Zool.) 12: 359. Eressades was established in the Syntomidae, now Ctenuchidae; its type-species was placed in the Thyretidae by Kiriakoff, 1960, in Wytsman, Genera Insect. 214 (E): 21.
