  • The drawing is inscribed with the title in a panel in the border at bottom, "VIEW of the WEST SIDE of SIDNEY BAY NORFOLK ISLAND Shewing the Method by which the ^CREW 7^ PROVISIONS & cc, & cc, Were saved from the WRECK of Hs. Ms. Sp. SIRIUS; as also a Boat Landing. Taken from the West Side of Turtle Bay".
  • The drawing is signed and dated at lower right in the inner band of the border "GEO: RapeR. # 1790".
  • The drawing is inscribed in pencil at bottom left with the number "23", at top right "22", and on the reverse "55".
  • The composition is very similar to drawing number 22 in the Watling Collection. The Sirius was wrecked as it tried to land at Norfolk Island on 19th March 1790, and an eye-witness account of the event is given by the Captain of the Sirius, John Hunter, in An Historical Journal of the Transactions at Port Jackson and Norfolk Island (London, 1793).
