Drawing depicting a group of islands off the south-west cape of Tasmania. The drawing is composed of horizontal bands of sea, land and sky, with the sea occupying approximately the lower quarter of the composition, and the sky the upper three-quarters. The islands are painted in shades of grey-green and brown. The sea is represented by a gradated wash of blue overlaid in the foreground with short grey horizontal brush marks. The drawing is underlined with a black ink base-line and inscribed with the title in black ink in the margin below, and with bearings against two of the islands.
