hide detailed image description

At the left of the sheet is a drawing of a branch of a tree or shrub, with pairs of narrow, elongated leaves on either side of the branch. There are some brown leaves towards the top, and one flower. There is a separate detail of one leaf, drawn the natural size, to the left. On the right of the sheet is a drawing of a moth, with its wings outstretched and its head towards the top. The wings are painted in shades of pale brown, pink and grey. All four wings have a narrow dark stripe towards the bottom with the outline of a circle above, and are overlaid with brown veins. The background is plain. The drawing is signed by Watling in two places, and annotated in brown ink.
