  • The drawing is inscribed in black ink at bottom "BIRDS of PORT-JACKSON Natural Size - GEO: RapeR.# - 1790 ~".
  • The drawing is signed "GEO: RapeR" and dated 1790.
  • The drawing is inscribed in pencil at bottom left with the number "43", at bottom right "42", and on the reverse "35".
  • The birds were identified by Hindwood (1964) as the Red-backed Wren, Malurus melanocephalus and the Sacred Kingfisher, Halcyon sanctus. ITIS lists the current preferred name for this species as Todirhamphus sanctus.
  • The author of this catalogue record is Suzanne Stenning.
