hide detailed image description

Bird depicted from a slightly frontal view, its body turned slightly to the right and its head in profile facing left. It is shown standing on a grass mound, with water in front of it and on either side represented by a pale blue wash with short grey horizontal lines, but an otherwise plain background. The bird is predominantly painted in shades of grey, except for the head which is red with a white crown and black tufts on the chin, and the tips of the wings and tail, which are black. The legs are long and patterned in black and white, with spots above the main joint and stripes below. The drawing is framed by a pencil border and annotated in ink and pencil.
