> The Florida Entomologist published
by your society is wonderful in its
policy to provide free online e-reprints
to everyone. This benefits greatly
entomologists in developing countries
where the journal may not be
available.

e-reprints on mites for acarologists

together so that they are more easily
accessable free from acarologists

written permission from you so
that I can legally make copies of free
e-reprints in Florida Entomologists
for free distribtuion to acarologoists
who might not know your website.

permissions. But I feel it is best
to get a written permission from you.

Dear Zhi-Qiang Zhang ,
If the article is highlighted as
a "Free PDF" or has the PDF icon, you can
do as you suggested below. Permission
is not needed and a reader can make a
copy for himself or others provided
he/she does not profit from it.

Dear Zhi-Qiang: For some time, I've been meaning to send you PDFs of those
papers of mine on the ticks of Asia in which I am the senior author.
Unfortunately, such papers are few and short, but I've finally found the time to
gather them together in the hope that you will be able to add them to the SAAS
e-reprint library, thus perhaps bringing some small benefit to our Asian
colleagues. Please note that since I am an employee of the United States
government, specifically the Department of Defense, I cannot transfer copyright
of my work to any publisher-all papers published by U.S. government workers are
considered to be in the public domain. Thus, any work of mine can be added to
anyone's database without even asking permission. However, in deference to my
coauthors, whose situations may be different, I have decided to send only those
papers in which I appear first on the byline.
