Find your zen at the Natural History Museum with a unique yoga class hosted in collaboration with East of Eden.

Rise and shine with an invigorating yoga class followed by a live gong bath and exclusive access to the Dinosaur gallery in October, or Wildlife Photographer of the Year in November and December, while it is closed to the public.

Tune in to your own breathing, energise your body and move through a series of ancient yogic movements beneath Hintze Hall's magnificent blue whale skeleton for a yoga experience amongst the treasures of the natural world. 

This class is suitable for all experience levels. Please remember to bring your own yoga mat for these events. 

Classes in the Museum have been designed to meet our COVID-19 safety regulations. Please read our Safety information before your class.

  • Important information

    For the event on the 19 September, entry to the Museum will be via the Queens Gate entrance. 

    Please bring your own yoga mat for this event. 

    This event is for those aged 16 and over.

    Bookings are required. Tickets are not available for purchase on the door.

    No refunds will be given. You may change your booking to an alternative date as long as you inform us at least 30 days before the date of your original booking. Alternative dates are subject to availability and must take place within one year of your original booking.

    There will be a £10 admin fee for moving a ticket.

    Doors will open 15 minutes before the class begins. Entry is via the main entrance on Cromwell Road.

    The event will begin promptly and we cannot allow entry more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time.

    It is your responsibility to determine, through obtaining appropriate medical advice, that you are fit and well to take part in the event. Before commencing any exercise regime, you should consult your doctor.

    Guests who are pregnant must advise the teacher and be aware that if they are in the first trimester, they may not be able to take class. This is entirely at the individual teacher’s discretion. If the teacher agrees to you participating in class, this is at your own risk.

    Please note that photography and filming may take place during this event and these images may be used for Museum marketing purposes. If you have any concerns about being photographed, please speak to a member of staff at the event.

    The Museum reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the event as required, such as adjusting the locations, timings or content of the activities. This is to ensure that we deliver a safe and excellent experience for all guests at all times.

  • COVID-19 FAQs

    The safety of our visitors and staff is our priority. Find out more about what we're doing to help keep everyone safe, and what you can do to help.

    What new safety measures will you have in place for this event?

    These safety measures are determined by government guidance and are therefore subject to change according to updates in public health advice.

    • Visitors must bring their own yoga mat, the Museum is unable to provide them.
    • One-way systems will be in place throughout the event and spaces will be filled from the front on a first come first served basis. Guests who wish to do the class next to each other must arrive together.
    • Hands-free hand sanitiser will be available throughout the Museum. Upon entry, all attendees will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided.
    • Multiple toilet facilities across the site will be open with clear signage in place. 
    • There are no changing facilities on site, visitors must arrive in appropriate clothing for the class. Warm clothing is recommended, along with a blanket for the relaxation part of the class – the hall can be colder during the winter months.

    Do guests need to wear face coverings?

    Guests are not expected to wear a face covering during the class. We recommend that you wear a face covering inside the Museum, in line with government guidance.

    What happens to my ticket if I am unwell and cannot attend the event?

    Guests should let the Museum know if they are feeling unwell, so that tickets can be re-scheduled for a future date, particularly if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms - a temperature, consistent cough or loss of taste.

    Where will you be cleaning and how regularly?

    Hintze Hall, where the yoga takes place, will be cleaned frequently– with particular focus on regular touch points.

    Will there be other visitors in the Museum?

    Yoga sessions will take place outside of opening hours when the Museum is closed to the general public

    Will water fountains be open?

    Water fountains are currently closed, please bring your own bottle of water.

    Will Test and Trace be used?

    It is no longer a legal requirement for us to collect your contact details for Test and Trace purposes. NHS QR codes are still be available for those who choose to check in using the NHS COVID-19 app.

    What data protection measures will be in place?

    The Museum takes data protection seriously. After careful consideration we have decided that sharing visitor data with the NHS Test and Trace service is in the legitimate interests of our visitors, the wider public, and our Museum staff in order to help identify and inform those at risk of infection and control the spread of COVID-19. This information will be stored securely, will only be used for this purpose for a period of 21 days after the date of the visit, and will only be transferred to the Test and Trace service in a way which keeps it safe and secure during transit.
