The Birds of the Natural History Museum
Event type: talk, meet the scientist
Location: Attenborough Studio
Free, no ticket required
From parrots and penguins, to seagulls and cuckoos, birds come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Meet the Museum's Senior Curator of Birds to find out what goes on in the bird collection.
The collection is stored at the Natural History Museum at Tring and is a treasure trove of specimens going back hundreds of years.
Tring's building and some of the collection originally belonged to the eccentric Walter Rothschild before it was gifted to the nation in 1937.
Hear the story of Rothschild and find out how the magnificent bird collection is used in modern research and conservation efforts.
