Sing for Science: The Chemistry of Breaking Bad

Beloved actor Bryan Cranston and our mineralogist Alan Hart explore the surprising intersections between science and storytelling.

Beloved actor Bryan Cranston takes to our stage to reflect on the role that defined a generation of television.

He’ll talk about his unforgettable portrayal of Walter White, the mild-mannered chemistry teacher who becomes an underworld kingpin in the groundbreaking series Breaking Bad.

Bryan will share behind-the-scenes stories, insights into the craft of acting and the profound impact this character had on both his career and popular culture.

He’ll be joined in conversation by our scientific associate and renowned mineralogist Alan Hart. Alan will guide us into the dazzling world of crystals and minerals in their purest elemental form.

Together, they’ll explore the surprising intersections between science and storytelling and chemistry and character, as well as how the natural world can inspire both art and imagination.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime event you won’t want to miss! It’ll be an evening of unforgettable dialogue, unique perspectives and a chance to see two masters of their fields share the stage in our iconic building.

Sing for Science podcast host Matt Whyte will be joining to host the discussion.
