New Year’s Eve: Party at the Museum
Following last year’s sell-out event, our New Year’s Eve: Party at the Museum is back! Make natural history with us as we celebrate the arrival of 2026.
Prepare your moves to get the earth quaking, get ready to heat up the dancefloor and make meteoric waves into an unforgettable 2026.
Stellar entertainment and activities will be back by popular demand. Enjoy live music, a silent disco and the chance to explore many of our galleries after dark. Meet some fabulous creatures with ethical animal handlers ZooLab and countdown to 2026 in true party style.
Dress for the occasion and join us in our exclusive VIP area. VIP tickets are limited, so make sure you bagsy one to enjoy its private bar and exclusive entertainment.

Accessibility information
- This event is fully wheelchair accessible.
- There’s an accessible toilet on the Ground Floor at the back of Hintze Hall, under the stairs. We also have a Changing Places toilet on the Ground Floor of our Blue Zone.
- If you’re unable to wait in queues for long periods, speak to our security staff and they’ll fast track your entry.
- Blue Badge parking spaces are available on request.

Doors open at 20.00, with last entry at 22.00.
The event ends at 01.30.
This event is for ages 18+ only.
A valid form of photo ID must be shown on entry. We operate a challenge 25 policy.
Bag searches will be in operation.
You’re not allowed to bring your own alcohol. If you do, it’ll be confiscated.
Bring an electronic or printed copy of your ticket.
No refunds or exchanges will be given.
A cloakroom will be available to use for free.
Members must show their member’s ID upon entry.
Further checks will be carried out at the VIP area.
Some activities have a limited capacity. We can’t guarantee that everyone will have the opportunity to take part in every activity. Some activities will close before the event end time.
Bars will close at 01.00.
We reserve the right to make any necessary changes to the event as required, such as adjusting the locations, timings or content of the activities. This is to ensure that we deliver a safe and excellent experience for everyone at all times.
Photography and filming may take place during this event, in which you may be identifiable. These images may be used for marketing purposes on the website, social media and printed publicity materials. If you have any concerns about being photographed, speak to our staff at the event.

What if the event is sold out?
Sign up to our waitlist for the chance to buy tickets if they become available.
I can no longer make the event, can I have a refund?
If you can no longer make the event and it’s sold out, we’ll offer your tickets to the waitlist and refund you if they sell. If the event isn’t sold out, unfortunately, we can’t issue refunds.
Will food and drink be available to buy?
Yes. There’ll be a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available to buy. There’ll also be light snacks as well as hot food.
Which areas will be open?
Hintze Hall, Earth Hall, our Dinosaurs Gallery, Images of Nature Gallery and Mammals (blue whale) Gallery will be open. You’ll also have the opportunity to see our popular Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Space: Could Life Exist Beyond Earth? exhibitions.
What time can I arrive?
Doors open at 20.00, enter via our Central Entrance. Last entry will be at 22.00. If you arrive early, you may be asked to queue outside the main gates, so dress appropriately for the weather.
Which entrance will be in use?
Our Central Entrance on Cromwell Road.
I can’t find my tickets, what should I do?
Email us at after-hours@nhm.ac.uk stating your booking number and a short explanation of your situation and we’ll process the reissuing of your tickets.
What time will the event finish?
The event will finish at 01.30 but some activities will end before this time. Last orders at the bar will be 01.00.
Is there a dress code?
There’s no official dress code, dress how you feel most comfortable. The theme for the event is Party at the Museum, so feel free to come in full glamour.
I have a very elaborate costume planned, are there any restrictions?
If you plan to wear an elaborate costume, wear appropriate clothing underneath. You may be asked to remove your costume if there are any health or safety concerns.
