A century ago, fashion - not habitat destruction - was the main killer of birds.

From Flamingos to Ostriches bird feathers were highly desirable and fashionable accessories to women's headwear. Many bird species were on the brink of extinction from the booming trade. But a group of determined young women decided to do something about it. Join Alastair Hendry in conversation with Kathryn Rooke, Alex Bond and Tessa Boase to explore the story of how a group of women, against all odds, challenged the British Parliament to ban the importing of exotic bird feathers for fashion and thus save countless bird species from extinction.
