Member Talk: Botany Up Close with Dr Sandy Knapp

Event information

Event type: Online Members event

Free, online event - no ticket required.

13 May 2020 6pm-7pm

Members and Patrons are invited to an exclusive talk with Museum botanist Dr Sandy Knapp, for the first in our series of virtual Member events.

Sandy has travelled across the world collecting specimens to support her research and build on the Museum's historic collections.

After receiving a breast cancer diagnosis last year, Sandy travelled home for treatment and was inspired by the role of plants and soils in her chemotherapy drugs

Join Sandy as she shares the highlights from her most recent trip to Argentina, and how she brought her work and herbarium home during the Museum closure.

The talk will begin with an introduction from our Executive Director of Development Fiona McWilliams before our host leads the conversation with Sandy. There will also be an opportunity to ask your questions at the end of the talk.

Got a burning question?

You can ask questions in real-time while the talk is happening. Head to the video on YouTube and type your question into the chat box.

Tell us what you think

This was the first in our new series of exclusive virtual events. We'd be so grateful if you could take 5 minutes to complete this anonymous survey and tell us what you thought of Sandy's event. This will help us improve our events programme in the future.

The Museum is closed but our work continues

As a charity we need your help. With our doors closed, we're losing vital income. We're doing everything we can to continue to connect people to nature by bringing the Museum to you through inspiring stories and educational activities.

So if you could help us with a donation - no matter the size - we'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
