Join us in the Museum to learn all about Mary Anning, the legendary fossil hunter and the incredible marine reptiles she discovered!
Mary Anning was one of the most influential fossil hunters who ever lived. Find out all about her incredible discoveries in this interactive session especially for children.
With our host, Mary Anning herself, you will learn amazing facts about marine reptiles, fossilisation, and fossil-hunting on the beaches of England, as well as learning where the famous 'She sells sea shells on the sea shore' song originated.
Children will work in small groups with Mary to understand how marine reptiles became fossilised, as well as creating their very own origami one to take home.
This event will be held in the Anning Rooms for Members and Patrons. The Rooms are named in celebration of Mary, and the session will take place in our Library Room on the second floor. Before or after your session, why not stop by our Anning Rooms restaurant to enjoy our special kids menu.
This event is open to Members and Patrons. Members must book a ticket for themselves and their children and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is ideal for children between the ages of four to eight.
Keep an eye out for your Member e-newsletters for future family events with Mary Anning and other historical characters later this year.
Please arrive at the Library on the second floor of the Anning Rooms a few minutes before the event is scheduled to begin.
