Join us this half-term for a festival of ocean-themed, family-friendly fun. The Festival is being held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the February half-term.

As you make your way around the Museum, drop-in on games, shows and events. Kids can make their own coral, get hands-on with real specimens and watch a new episode of Andy's Aquatic Adventures!

What's on at the Festival?

Andy's Aquatic Adventures Screening 

Location: Marine Invertebrates gallery

Watch brand-new episodes of Andy's Aquatic Adventures. Join Andy as he dives into the ocean to find hawksbill turtles and Weddell seals.

Drop-in, 11.00-16.00

Get up close and handle real ocean specimens! Learn how different ocean life is adapted to its environment and how humans are impacting these habitats.

Family Palaeo Puzzle

Location: Jerwood Gallery

Our team has been sent a mystery specimen and we need your help to solve an ancient puzzle! Help build a 3D skeleton jigsaw puzzle, work out what creature it could be and discover more about ancient oceans.

Limited space workshops; first come, first served
Every half hour from 11.00-15.30

Crafty Corals

Location: Jerwood Gallery

Make your own colourful coral from recycled materials to help us create a vibrant coral reef. Guided by staff, you can learn how corals grow and create homes for other ocean life.

Recycled materials will be provided.

Location: Fossil Marine Reptiles gallery

Meet famous fossil hunter Mary Anning walking the galleries and talk with her about some of her most famous discoveries from the ancient deep.

Pick up a magnifying glass and discover amazing ocean animals from the past or those you may see in the oceans today. Get hands-on with some real specimens!
