Palm oil is one of our most widely used and productive crops. But rapid expansion of oil palm plantations is causing alarming levels of deforestation in the tropics, reducing biodiversity and releasing carbon into the atmosphere.

By making space for nature in oil palm landscapes, we can balance economic and environmental needs more effectively. How large do conservation areas need to be to support a healthy ecosystem, and how can we use science to help growers make their plantations more wildlife friendly?

Join scientist Jen Lucey, whose work with policy makers and industry is striving to make palm oil more sustainable.
