TitleNewspapers removed from the Blue (Wexford) Whale Skeleton
DescriptionNewspapers removed from the Blue (Wexford) Whale (since named Hope), as part of conservation work undertook when the Blue Whale skeleton was relocated from the Mammals Hall (previously the Whale Hall) to Hintze Hall (previously Central Hall). During conservation work it was discovered the intervertebral discs were composed of plaster of paris, wooden blocks and newspapers. The newspaper fragments were flattened and given to Archives as a record of the Whale.

One box is of flattened newspapers and the other of untreated fragments, including a piece of an intervertebral disc.
