Description | House of John Wallace, Alfred's brother in Stockton, California. Black and white photograph, undated, but must be 1887, when Alfred visited his brother. Displays large two storey house with large balcony at one side of the house. In the foreground two children sit on bicycles by a tree. In the background by a door to the house stands a woman. Underneath the photograph is written in pencil "John Wallace's house, Stockton".On the back of the card is written in pencil "Mary Tree?, Ethel Smith, Ethel Wallace. The latter is a granddaughter of John Wallace and grandniece of Alfred Russel Wallace. Possibly the woman by the door is her mother? The address of the house "369, Channel street, Stockton, Cal" is written in pencil on the back of the card. Notes: 12 x 19 cm on card 21 x 26 cm.
