Activity | A graduate of Magdalene College, Cambridge, Hindle became known for his work on insect-borne diseases and was Professor of Biology at the Cairo School of Medicine, 1919 to 1924, and Beit Research Fellow in Tropical Diseases at the Wellcome Bureau of Scientific Research, 1928 to 1933. He became Regius Professor of Zoology at The University of Glasgow from 1935 to 1943 and during his time at Glasgow, he encouraged research in genetics and freshwater biology. He was a founder of the Zoological Society of Glasgow. He become Scientific Director of the Zoological Society of London in 1944. |
