| Description | This series contains the volumes in which incoming presented collections were entered in the first instance. Each collection was given a working number, and a brief description, and the name and address of the donor were recorded. The more formal accessions registers were compiled from these volumes, together with the donations records submitted to the trustees. Many volumes also record the progress of work on the collection, and were known as 'working books'. Most volumes contain notes, lists and letters relating to the collections received. |
