Learning Volunteer Programme

Two volunteers using hands-on specimens to interact with children in the Museum galleries

Volunteer testimony

'Living in London, the Museum was like a magnet for me. I wanted to join a team that could inspire the same awe in the public that I experienced when I was growing up.'

Nathalie, Learning Volunteer

Our Learning Volunteers bring Museum handling specimens into our galleries and exhibitions to create unforgettable learning experiences. They support visitors of all ages and backgrounds to investigate the natural world.

The Learning Volunteer Programme offers anyone over the age of 18 the support and training to develop their confidence, team work, communication and knowledge so they can interact with visitors through a range of hands-on learning activities.

You do not need to have experience in museums, science, learning or education to apply. All you need is curiosity and interest in nature, to enjoy working in a team and to be willing to learn and help others learn about nature.
