Catch of the day

About five white-tailed eagles live on the fjord, Valldal, southwestern Norway, where Sander's family keeps a boat. One spring day, he set off onto the water to photograph them. 'We were throwing fish out to attract them,' says Sander. Finally one swooped into frame. Sander had already decided on a slow shutter speed to capture the blur of action. 'The challenge', he says, 'was holding the camera steady on the boat while following the eagle through the lens. I was so excited when I saw the head was sharp and that I'd got the water splash.'

Valldal is my hometown, which is a small village with a breathtaking scenery. I have great opportunities to take pictures nearby. I have learned a lot from my father, who also is a hobby photographer. His favorite motive is animals. He showed me how fun and exciting photographing really is. What I love about photographing, is experiencing nature in a different way, and come close up to animals. I have been taking pictures since i was 8 years old. (On location picture: In the background you can see my hometown, Valldal. I am at the location where I took the Sea Eagle picture)
