Riomaggiore, a village on the Italian Riviera and within the Cinque Terre National Park, is a popular tourist destination. Emanuele wanted to use it as the setting for a picture that would show how nature can coexist with humans. 'I'd been searching all day and much of the evening for that perfect picture,' says Emanuele. 'Only when walking back up the beach to go to bed did I find it.' He set up his tripod and flashes and angled the shot to show the alert little hunter against the backdrop of the sleeping village. 'Some people think Moorish geckos are ugly and even dangerous,' he says, 'but they are our friends, eating tons of insects each night, including mosquitoes.'
