Patagonian woodscape

It had been snowing nearly all day, and Daniel was heading back to base after a trek across the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina's Los Glaciares National Park, Tierra del Fuego. He became fascinated by the colours and textures of the sub-Antarctic woodland that surrounds the glacier. It's the world's most southerly woodland and includes lenga and Antarctic beech. But it was the contrast of the grey skeleton trees against the autumn colours that made Daniel stop and set up his equipment. And it was the blur of the windswept snowflakes against the tapestry of colour that added the final touch to the picture.

Nikon D300 + 70-200mm f2.8 lens; 1/10 sec at f16 (-1.0 e/v); polarizing filter; ISO 200; Gitzo G1258 tripod.
