2010: Creative Visions - Highly Commended
Tanguy Stoecklé (France)
Aerobatics
Having observed and photographed yellow-winged bats for two years at Lake Baringo, Kenya, Tanguy knows a lot about their behaviour and where they roost and hunt. One of their favourite hunting spots is also one of the best for photography - Tanguy's own camp, where they come some evenings to catch insects attracted by the light. He regards them as among the most beautiful of bats, with their golden wings and enormous golden ears, and was determined to capture an impression of their action. After many nights, he achieved what he was after, an impression of the beauty of the yellow-winged bat's aerobatics.
Nikon D3 + 200mm lens; 1/80 sec at f5.6; ISO 1250; SB800 and SB26 flashes + manual trigger; tripod.
