2007: 15-17 Years - Highly Commended
Nick Burden (United States)
Desert sky-pool
'I visited Mystery Valley in Arizona, USA, with my dad and a Navajo guide. A week before, a downpour had drenched the desert and I came across this rain-pool. I wanted to capture the sky reflected in the water and shot untill I filled up my memory card.' The backdrop for countless Western movies, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in Arizona, USA, was once a vast plateau. For 50 million years, wind and rain have eroded away the layers of soft and hard rocks to create dramatic sculptures.
Nikon D100 + Sigma 28-200mm f4/5.6 lens; 1/6 sec at f22; Silk U212 tripod.
