'True to character, this little fish was darting around its home off Grand Cayman very fast. It was difficult to follow with a camera. I managed to get the shot when it paused to look at me. I think it's quite an amusing picture, the way it's looking right at you.' Like other species of blenny, the red-lipped blenny has characteristically bulging eyes set high on its head. It is very territorial, darting busily around its reef home, where it lives in crevices. Its comb-like teeth are perfect for eating algae, and male red-lipped blennies make excellent fathers.
