2006: 15-17 Years - Highly Commended
Cameron Amadeus Myhrvold (United States of America)
Mountain baby
After hiking all morning through the misty rainforest of the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Cameron encountered a group of mountain gorillas. One had a tiny infant riding on her back. 'The baby was quite curious, and when it made eye contact, I quickly snapped several pictures.' The baby continued chewing grass in a nonchalant manner before climbing down and crawling off to play with some other babies.
Canon EOS-1Ds with 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 lens; 1/40 sec at f5.6; 800 ISO; monopod.
