2006: 15-17 Years - Highly Commended
Evan Graff (United States)
Feather care
At sunrise, Evan went on the prowl along the boardwalks in the Everglades National Park, Florida, looking for subjects to photograph. 'This double-crested cormorant sat quietly for a long time,' he says, 'until the sun rose and it started to warm up'. When it began to preen itself, Evan focused on its pristine breeding plumage. 'I had never seen one with such a large crest or such a vivid turquoise eye.'
Nikon D70 with Sigma 50-500mm f4-6.3 EX lens; 1/400 sec at f10; tripod.
