2006: 10 Years and Under - Runner-up
Ilkka Räsänen (Finland)
Bullfinch on display
Ilkka spent several days with his uncle in a hide in the forest in southern Finland watching the birds. 'My favourites were the bullfinches,' says Ilkka. 'They were not too shy.' He took this picture on a cloudy day when the light wasn't too strong, highlighting the colours of a male in his full breeding plumage.
Nikon D70s with Nikkor 300mm f4D lens; 1/250 sec at f6.3; 400 ISO; tripod.
