2006: The Eric Hosking Portfolio Award - Winner
Serkan Günes (Sweden)
River of birches
'As well as looking for beautiful colours,' says Serkan, 'I am always searching for lines and shapes in the landscape'. While travelling one autumn in Jotunheimen National Park, Norway, all these elements came together in the form of this river of birch trees zig-zagging down the mountainside. The afternoon light was bright, but the harsh shadows worked in his favour, emphasising the lines and highlighting the golden trees.
Canon EOS 20D with 300mm f2.8 lens; 1/200 sec at f8; 100 ISO; tripod.
