2005: Wildscapes - Highly Commended Print
Christophe Sidamon-Pesson (France)
Frosted pines
In December, when temperatures had dropped below freezing, Christophe travelled to the Ballons des Vosges Natural Park in France near the border with Germany. 'I love the atmosphere of wilderness you find in the peatland there,' says Christophe, who went specifically to photograph the frosted landscape. 'In this wooded peat-bog valley, ice-crystals several centimetres long covered every plant.' On the opposite side, the sun had lit up the hillside forest, providing a golden backdrop to the monochromatic scene.
Nikon F100 with 28-70mm lens; Fujichrome Velvia 50; tripod.
