2005: Wildscapes - Highly Commended Print
Jeremy Walker (United Kingdom)
Cascade Mountains
Jeremy had heard about the Proxy Falls in the Cascade Mountains, Oregon, USA, but as he says, 'Words just don't do the location justice.' The mountain range is an old-growth forest hotspot and includes spectacular lava formations. Springs dot the area. Following one of them down, Jeremy trekked for 45 minutes across an old lava flow, finally emerging at the Proxy Falls. Scrambling down to a rocky area at the foot of the falls 'was like landing in another world. The moss just gave off a lovely, ethereal glow. The drenching I got in the process was well worth it.'
Fuji 6x17 Panoramic with 180mm lens; 1 minute at f45; Fujichrome Velvia 50.
