2005: Wildscapes - Highly Commended Print
Adam Gibbs (Canada/UK)
View from Panorama Ridge
Garibaldi Provincial Park is huge, extending almost from the city of Vancouver to Whistler - a two-hour drive away. It's a wilderness that boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in western Canada. Adam hiked up to the summit, known as Panorama Ridge, to look down on a spectacular view on the other side. 'Glancing back,' says Adam, 'I saw the last light hitting the ridge I had just sweated up. The curves of the snowfields cradled the light, contrasting with the bare-earth scar of a forest fire on one side and deep shadow on the other - a sweep of abstraction in an otherwise straight scenic.'
