Moon fire on Cerro Chaltén
'The top of Cerro Chaltén, which means smoking mountain, is nearly always covered by cloud. But a few times a year, when the moon is in the right position, you can see it 'on fire'. Camping at the foot of the Argentinean side of the mountain, I used a long exposure to capture the swirls of cloud and the star trails.' A mountain is usually any landform that rises above the surrounding area, and there is no agreed height for what makes a mountain and what makes a hill. About 24 per cent of the Earth's land surface is covered by mountains and they are home to 10 per cent of the population. Most of the world's fresh water originates in mountains.
