Seascape

'Patterns in nature have inspired many impressionist artists, but also photographers. I wanted to create a picture that departed from reality, using the camera instead of a brush and paints to represent the beauty of nature.' This beautiful moonlit night is over the Pacific, at Coogee Beach near Sydney in Australia. The bands of sky, ocean, surf and sand make it look like a painting. At night, many smaller fish come out to feed, when there is less chance of being seen and eaten by predators. Underwater national parks are helping to conserve this habitat for fish and other marine species.

Canon EOS 5D + Canon EF 35-350mm lens; 21 secs at f9.9; Manfrotto tripod.
