'I was on assignment in an elephant sanctuary in Zakouma National Park, Chad, looking at water - or lack of it. The only waterhole for miles was filled by runoff from the park director's swimming pool. It attracted baboons, warthogs, serval cats, even elephants. The baboons soon found my remote camera, and dismantled the gear.' Water is a precious commodity. Just three per cent of the world's water is fresh. Of that, most is locked in the ground, glaciers or ice caps. Only about one per cent is available for the world's 6.6 billion people. Vegetation and wildlife also rely on clean water, but increasing drought and pollution threaten this precious resource.
