Tyrannosaurus - The fierce carnivore

Pronunciation: tie-RAN-oh-sore-us
Lived: 67-65 million years ago
Size: up to 12 metres long
Name means: tyrant lizard
Fossils found: in Canada and USA
Diet: Carnivore - ate other dinosaurs

  • Huge, strong and fierce, I would attack and eat any dinosaur around.
  • I had one of the strongest bites of any animal that ever lived.
  • 60 sharp teeth, some up to 20 centimetres long, meant I could easily crush thick bones.
  • Scientists think I hunted my prey or fed on already dead animals. I probably did both, I was just lazy sometimes...
  • I had very short arms - they did not even reach my mouth!
  • I could eat the equivalent of 1,500 sausages a day.
