Lake Baikal is also known as the pearl of Siberia. A special place, it's home to one fifth of the world's reserves of fresh water and more than 1,300 animal species.

In its 25 million year history, the lake has served as a natural laboratory for evolution, so that about three quarters of species in the lake evolved there and are found nowhere else on Earth.

Join a Museum researcher as he explains more about this extraordinary lake.
