Around 520 million years ago the seas were teeming with life - but not as we know it. At Chengjiang, in southwest China, some of the oldest fossil remains on Earth have been discovered. Hundreds of extinct species have been unearthed here, including exceptionally preserved soft-bodied creatures. Amongst these are animals with the first known examples of legs and eyes to occur in the fossil record. Join us as we take a closer look at these strange worm-like creatures and discover what they can tell us about animals alive today.
