The extraordinary BBC Life series, presented by Sir David Attenborough, took 4 years to make and tells some 130 dramatic stories of animal behaviour over 10 episodes. It is being shown currently on BBC 1 and 2. 

At this exclusive After Hours event in the Darwin Centre Attenborough Studio, Martha Holmes gives us a fascinating glimpse into the development of the series from original idea to final transmission.

About Martha Holmes

Martha is an underwater specialist. She presented the first-ever live broadcast from underwater in the Red Sea. She also explored other undersea environments for the series Sea Trek in 1991, wearing the infamous 'bubble helmet'. Martha then moved to the other side of the camera - working on among others, the acclaimed series Life in the Freezer and Blue Planet, before producing the 3-part series The Nile in 2003.

Martha has a PhD in marine biology and has worked for the BBC Natural History Unit since 1988.
