(Claw of Baryonyx walkeri) Baryonyx means 'heavy claw'. Unusually for a carnivorous dinosaur we know it ate fish as scientists have found fish scales and teeth with its fossil where its stomach would have been.

Central Hall arches

This stunning arch is decorated with birds and foliage . Compare it to Alfred Waterhouse’s detailed original sketch. This is just one example of his intricate designs for terracotta ornaments that you’ll see throughout the Museum.

These arches form the entrance to Richard Owen’s cherished project, the Index Museum.
