Edward Lear was an artist and poet, most famous for his Owl and the Pussycat nonsense verse. To celebrate the bicentenary of Lear's birth, Dr Clemency Fisher explores the time he spent working at Knowsley Hall, near Liverpool, as an artist for the 13th Earl of Derby and his experiences while painting animals from the Earl's exotic menagerie.

This vibrant display created by local primary school pupils explores life in other countries around the globe. Inspired by visits to the Museum, it is part of Hertfordshire's Cultural Olympiad, a special programme of events inspired by London 2012.
