Discover beautiful images created by early botanical illustrators as they attmpted to capture the colours and shapes of plants. See examples of preserved plants and find out how modern technology, including electron microscopy, is now used to record every detail of a plant's anatomy.

Dancersend Guided Walk

Dancersend, once owned by the Rothschild family, has been a nature reserve since the 1940s. Join volunteer warden Mick Jones for a guided walk and, from grassland to woodland, discover the wide variety of habitats to be found in this hidden valley nature reserve.
This walk covers from steep slopes, uneven ground and stiles. Sturdy footwear is advised.
