The Museum is very popular with families, so use the information below to help plan your day.
Special activities
Footwear
The Museum is fairly compact, but visits can involve plenty of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.
Bags and pushchairs
You can leave your pushchairs and bags in a room near the Park Street entrance. A couple of steps separate this area from the main ground floor area of the Museum.
Car parking
The free car park is located close to the Museum entrance. At busy times parking may be limited and you can use the town car parks shown on the Getting here map.
Baby care
There are baby changing facilities in our toilets. There is a unisex toilet on the ground floor which is accessible to wheelchair users.
Food and drink
At the Zebra Café you can warm bottles and use highchairs, as well as purchase a selection of food and drinks. Foods containing nuts and dairy products are labelled, but if in doubt, check with a member of staff.
You can eat your own packed lunch in the outdoor picnic areas, or in the wildlife meadow across the street from the main building.
Children’s parties
Why not have a birthday party at the Museum? We have party invitations, special birthday cards, activities, party snack boxes and goody bags.
