Work placements

The Museum is an internationally respected institution, and one of the best natural history museums in the world, so in what finer place could you choose to start your quest for gathering and sharing knowledge about natural science?

Dovetailing with your studies in natural science, a work placement at the Natural History Museum could provide an early opportunity to experience your chosen vocation in practice.

The Natural History Museum makes a small number of course or programme-related placements every year but demand always exceeds supply. Successful applications are based on a suitable work opportunity becoming available to meet the objectives of the placement and the applicant’s course of study.

The minimum age for applying is 18 and there is no upper age limit.

We do not have specific connections with any academic institutions and the majority of work placements are made behind-the-scenes within our six science departments.
