What events are for Members?

You'll be able to see ancient fossils conserved using the latest world-class equipment in our Palaeontology Conservation Unit. Uncover some of our current scientific research unveiled by scanning electron microscopes in the Electron Microscopy and Mineral Analysis Unit. Or marvel at Darwin's priceless finches close up up as you venture behind the scenes at the Natural History Museum at Tring in Hertfordshire.

Kids can interact with scientists at our fun children's events, like naming, describing and caring for specimens in How to be an Entomologist. Or enjoy film screenings and family shows from renowned theatre companies, and join storytelling workshops.

Member events also include:

• Exhibition previews – escape the rush with exclusive exhibition previews before they open to the public
• Trips to other organisations – join special tours of like-minded institutions, such as Kew Gardens, The Grant Museum, Royal Botanic Gardens and the Millennium Seed Bank at Wakehurst Place
• Field trips – participate in outdoor activities like geological excavations, fossil hunting and bird watching
• Special events - workshops. shows, craft demonstrations and art classes that use the Museum's collections, expertise and Wildlife Garden as inspiration. Subjects can be as varied as beautifully illustrated bird books to close encounters with crocodiles and peg loom weaving!

Most Member events carry a charge. Members always receive a discount on the ticket price of public paying events, in addition to their 10 free complimentary guest passes to exhibitions (the latter excludes the Child Membership category).
