How your gift will help us

Anyone can leave a gift in their will, it doesn't have to be a huge amount. Even small gifts can make a big difference and your support can help the Museum in so many essential ways.

Why we need your support

The Natural History Museum is home to over 70 million specimens. We keep the most comprehensive and precious record of natural life in the world.

Help us understand nature's diversity.

Our mission is to care for the collections and use them to understand nature’s diversity and inspire better care of our planet.

Each day our scientists use these collections to support research projects in the UK and overseas, and to make groundbreaking discoveries. This research, for example in areas like fighting malaria, has contributed to improving life for millions. It's also our job to share our knowledge and expertise to inspire future generations.

Examples of how your gift helps

Your gift could help us:

  • Fund vital science projects from research into devastating diseases to the protection and conservation of endangered species. Find out about cutting-edge science research.
  • Inspire 1000s of young people with our educational activities. Find out about our award-winning learning programmes.
  • Breathe new life into the Museum’s galleries and make the collections more accessible to all. Explore our priceless heritage.
  • Develop new ways for visitors and researchers to engage with science, such as the state-of-the-art Darwin Centre building. Discover the magnificent Darwin Centre.
The Museum's legacy

The Museum owes its beginnings to the legacy of Sir Hans Sloane, an 18th-century physician passionate about natural history.
